Hi,
I've got several problems when trying to make a copy enviroment of our productive CRM 2016 on premise system.
My target is to create a 1 to 1 copy to simulate a migration to Dynamics 365 On-Premise. I set up a new SQL Server with the same version and another crm server with the same installation routine. I took a backup of the Organization Database and the Config Database, restored it on the test sql server, installed CRM on the Test Application server and tried to import the organization within the deployment manager. I guess I've got some problems, because the ID's and servers within the Config Database still refer to the systems of the production environment.
It seems, that all the HowTos and Best Practices refer to create a test environment within the deployment manager of the production system, but in this case I'm not able to simulate the migration without harming the prod environment.
Is there any way or help to set up a completely different environment on different servers within the same domain, with the same configuration and data?
