Having two locations (this existing forum and a new forum) to look for answers will break the continuity and mean that people will stop using the forum entirely.
Mixing multiple ERP products onto a single forum will generate too much noise for those only interested in a single product. Without a way to permanently filter both the web interface and the email subscriptions to a single product or category, there will be too much irrelevant information from other products that will drive users to other GP focused forums.
Please leave this forum working "as is" at least until Microsoft is no longer supporting or providing security updates to Microsoft Dynamics GP.
With the now renamed Categories making it obvious which categories relate to the Dynamics 365 F&O product, the forums are finally usable for the Microsoft Dynamics GP community.
See my article discussing the great work that Scott Dodds and the team have done.
Here are the statistics for forum subscription emails sent after 5 weeks.
GP Emails received = 15
AX Emails received = 244 (58 with AX product specified and 186 with a F&O related category specified - as clarified by Martin).
So, still only 6% GP, meaning 94% of the emails received so far are irrelevant to me.
The Categories such as Finance, Human Resources, etc. are actually Dynamics 365 categories for use with Finance and Operations (F&O). I have requested they be named with the Dynamics 365 prefix so that they get used as products and not areas within the application.
There is some hope though. On the forum website you can limit to the Microsoft Dynamics GP category AND NOW you can subscribe to the individual categories that interest you. See the thread below for more info:
I completely understand what you're saying, just note that we distinguish Dynamics 365 Finance and Dynamics AX. I'm assuming that the "AX threads do not have the Dynamics AX category selected" are actually threads about Dynamics 365 Finance (not Dynamics AX) and have Category = Finance.
Here are the statistics for forum subscription emails sent after 3 weeks.
GP Emails received = 10
AX Emails received = 162 (37 with product specified and 125 without product specified).
So, 6% GP, meaning 94% of the emails received so far are irrelevant to me.
Even if you include the categories in the subscription email, Outlook rules will not work as 77% of AX threads do not have the Dynamics AX category selected.
We have even had some emails for threads where no category has been selected at all. I thought a category was required.
Here are the statistics for forum subscription emails sent after 2 weeks.
GP Emails received = 9 AX Emails received = 102 (25 with product specified and 77 without product specified).
So, 8% GP, meaning 92% of the emails received so far are irrelevant to me.
Even if you include the categories in the subscription email, Outlook rules will not work as 75% of AX threads do not have the Dynamics AX category selected.
Scott, how much longer do we have to put up with this?
Here are the statistics for forum subscription emails sent after 7 days.
GP Emails received = 4 AX Emails received = 48 (12 with product specified and 36 without product specified).
So, 8% GP, meaning 92% of the emails received so far are irrelevant to me.
Even if you include the categories in the subscription email, Outlook rules will not work as 75% of AX threads do not have the Dynamics AX category selected.
Thank you, David, for doing the work to look into this. I have given up on the forums for now and am now being annoyed by the inability to mark all the Notifications as read so I'm stuck with an alert every time I log in. (And I'm not willing to take the time to slowly and methodically open each one to clear it.)
Here are the statistics for forum subscription emails sent after 3 days.
GP Emails received = 3 AX Emails received = 29 (11 with product specified and 18 without product specified).
So, 9% GP, meaning 91% of the emails received so far are irrelevant to me.
Even if you include the categories in the subscription email, Outlook rules will not work as 62% of AX threads do not have the Dynamics AX category selected.
Scott, this cannot continue as is.
