Order stuck on partially picked and packed Sales order packing slip update

Greeting everyone,

I have an issue on AX 2009 for sales order packing slip update. When the order had been created and the picking list generated an partial quantity of the order was back ordered for one of the line. They created a packing slip for the partial order. When the remainder of the order was available to be picked with a new shipment I get the following error:

"Inventory transactions with a quantity of 8.00 attached to reference Output XXXX exist"

"Insufficient inventory transactions with status On order, Reserved ordered, Reserved physical and Picked"

The problem seems to lie in the pick list registration, which is where I believe the user made a mistake. There is only a line for qty 10 for the item that was initially picked and I cannot create a new line to add the remaining 8. I get an error when trying to create a new pick list.

This other forum case is similar http://dynamicsuser.net/forums/t/50642.aspx and talks of deleting the associated output order. I am initially hesitant because this is a production environment and the output order only contains one line for the full 18 quantity. I don't know what the effect would be of deleting the full amount when part of it is already packing slipped.

I need to find the safest way to back out of the process.

Thanks!

Steve

Can you end the output order? That should release the remaining qty of 8 to be picked.

The option to end the output order is greyed out. Is there any other way of releasing it? The user who created the issue does not remember the steps they took so I can't recreate it. When I try and get to the pick list registration it won't let me delete the line, only cancel it. Yet when I cancel it releases the items from the output order

Hi Steven, have you resolved this issue? If yes, can you please send me the step-by-step to resolve this as I am facing with the same problem.

    Thanks much.

    Hi All.

I know this is an old issue. But we just experienced the same issue and resolved it by deleting an output order that was created in error.

On the sales order, on the lines grid click "Stock", "Output order". Delete the outstanding output order.

Note, this may not be the proper solution to resolve the error, but we could do so as the output order was created in error.

I am still not 100% on the cause, but got the same message.

I solved the issue by 'updating the picking list registration'.

So from the sales order, I selected the Journals section in the upper ribbon > Picking list.

The I selected the Picking List registration tab > Updates (drop-down) Update all.
