Creating Talent instance from LCS

For one of my customer we have setup Talent instance via LCS and during setup selected Dynamics CRM environment. As Talent is installed on top of Dynamics CRM, so all the Talent related entities got created into CRM as well which is fine.

But when any Talent user gets System Administrator role, automatically he gets Dynamics CRM System Administrator role. Even though person dont have Dynamics CRM license and any security role.

My question is will there be any Licensing impact on Dynamics CRM, as organization employees will have Talent license and Dynamics CRM license.

How Talent and Dynamics CRM licensing works when the Talent instance is setup on CRM by LCS.

    Hi Rohit,

as I said, if you give Sys ADmin role in Talent, it automatically gives Sys Admin in PowerApps. PowerApps = CRM and therefore you have this output..

You can remove the Sys admin role from CRM = PowerApps, but the Sys Admin role in Talent will remain.

you must understand the architecture of Talent but unfortunately I can't explain it better than this.

    best regards,

    Nicu

    Hi Nicu,

Thanks very much for getting back, my concern was how did someone got the admin access in CRM when we actually gave him the sys admin role in Talent and when we checked into the CRM users list, his id did not had any roles attached. I will check.

    Hello Rohit,

they don't actually get a CRM license. They get a PowerApps license (which, from the Database and customization perspective is the same). You should be able to remove the CRM Sys Admin role and still keep a SysAdmin on Talent, but you should really know what you are doing.

Also, all users from Talent will automatically get a PowerApps (Dynamics CRM if you wish) role, for "Recruiter", Hiring Manager, etc., which are also giving access to Attract and Onboard, because these are native PowerApps applications. These are not affecting the CRM licensing.

please ask someone who knows about CRM/PowerApps security roles and also Talent when you plan to remove or add roles to users.

    best regards,

    nicu
