Expert advice needed.

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Hi All,

I have one question which needs expert advice.

I have just received an email from one of my colleagues.

Last week he has registered his company, he has developed one tool for Dynamics GP. Now he is in plan to sell his tool in market. But he is neither a MSDyn Partner nor an ISV, so he has a question in mind whether is it necessary to be partner or ISV to sell his tool.

Honestly I don’t have much idea about it so I thought to publish in DynGP forum.

If my post is irrelevant to this forum then do let me know and I will take down this post.

-Bob

    Bob,

Here is a blog post related to 'becoming' a registered partner for Dynamics CRM solutions.. though it's a different product, I think the steps remain basically the same.

    blogs.msdn.microsoft.com/.../how-to-become-a-microsoft-dynamics-crm-app-partner-basic-steps

There should be a 1-800 # to call to get all the details..

They might direct him to download some official forms to sign off : www.microsoft.com/.../details.aspx

    Hi Beat/Jonathan,

    Thanks for your inputs.

I believe that he has developed in .Net (C#).

I agree with you that it is hard to trust someone who is neither Partner or ISV.

I would like to have more information on how to register for ISV or partner, which ever is easy going process.

    Hi Bob,

How was that tool developed for Dynamics GP ? in Dexterity ? Does he got a product ID # for his application ?

I agree that I'd not trust too much an application coming from someone that is neither a partner or a registered ISV with Microsoft...

    Bob,

I do not believe you have to be a registered ISV to sell a 3rd party Dynamics GP add-in.  What I would say though is that most people aren't very trusting of software companies that are not either.  I know I'd be very hard pressed to do it.
