Error while starting AOS service (AX 2009)

Hi All,

In our current scenario File Server, AOS Server are on same box and database is on different box.
We are setting failover setup for our application. We have installed second AOS on separate box (no clustering/no load balance) and installed File Server on separate box(copied the existing applications files folder to this box).

While starting AOS, we are getting below error.
Object Server 01: The application files are not accessible. This can be caused by another Microsoft Dynamics instance using the application files in exclusive mode.
Object Server 01: Failed to create file axapdar.ahi. Error code was 5

Below are the steps, we have verified:

·         Service account is having  permissions on the folder where the files reside. The root directory had the permissions set also they have been propagated down to the sub-directories.

·         Files were not set to read-only

·         Tried removing the axapd.aoi file.

Please let us know, if we are missing any setting.

Thanks in advance for help

Thanks,
Naveen

    Hi,

From what i understood from your issue you have troubles with Application file dictectory for the second AOS, if i ask you a question why you copied the first AOS application file to the second AOS application file directory why you didn`t install it again for the second AOS because if you completed the first AOS installation which i mean by running the confirguration setup when opening AX at the first time that will make a different i think.

What is in the Event Log?

    Event logs state that:

Object Server 01: The application files are not accessible. This can be caused by another Microsoft Dynamics instance using the application files in exclusive mode.

Object Server 01: Failed to create file axapdar.ahi. Error code was 5

    Thanks Yousef.

I have installed Fileserver again(this time in d: drive, OS is 2008 SP2) and did not copy first AOS applications files. This time AOS service got started. But it took 4 Hrs to start. Then again I stopped the AOS, next time it took one and Half hour to start. one time it took 20 mins. There is no consistency in starting time of AOS.

    Taking time in building indexes.

    Building index file axapden-us.ahi
    Building index file axapd.aoi
Object Server 01: Building index file old\axapd.aoi
Object Server 01: Building index file axapden-us.khi

     Thanks,

     Naveen

    Naveen

Can you log in to the AOS and rebuild the help files by yourself, then restart the AOS to see if it is OK?

It's been a while but I will add one more solution if nothing else works.

This applies only if you have application files in a shared folder and you are pointing to the shared path.

I have got the same problem, and the solution was to remove sharing and share that folder again - reshare.

does the service account of that AOS have full acces on the filepath?

also check the fileowner ship, sometimes it is also helping.

incase nothing helps deisntall the AOS and install again.
