Special order and item tracking

Hi,

almost all of our projects are with companies using lot numbers (item tracking).

In on specific case, we are making use of special orders, because we are talking about sales orders of 20 to 30 lines, all being orderd at the same vendor.

I noticed that when I am entering the item tracking on the purchase order of a special order, the item tracking is not taken over by the sales order. Isn't that a bug ? We also use drop shipment, and in drop shipment orders, the item tracking is copied from the purchase order to the sales order.

anybody faced this issue in the past ?

kr,

Francis

RE: Special order and item tracking

    Dear Suresh,

This would interest me. Would you be able to send this code to me?

    Kind regards

    Wim

    Francis,

You can do a small customization in codeunit Create Reserv. Entry in function TransferReservEntry to achieve this. Currently it transfers serial and lot no. only if binding is order-to-order. I think you can easily modify this and allow to transfer item tracking lines for every binding or while transferring reservation entries you can add few lines of code to transfer serial and lot no.

Let me know if you need the code i can send you, but you need to test it.

    Hi MMV,

that's a pitty. I don't really understand the logic behind it. The purchase and sales order are directly linked.

This could be a nice improvement.

    Hi Francis,

In the case of Special Order, I don't think the Item Tracking lines are copied over to the Sales Order.

It happens only in the case of Drop Shipment.

    Best Regards,

    MMV

    Hi Francis,

I didn't find a way to achieve your goal in standard NAV

RE: Special order and item tracking

    Hi Mohana,

in general the procedure is slightly different:

    - create sales order

    - create purchase order using special order functionality

    - enter item tracking on purchase order when receiving the goods

    - post purchase receipt

    - enter item tracking on sales order (which I want to avoid)

    - post sales shipment.

the lot numbers are not available the moment the sales order and purchase order are created.

    kr,

    Francis

    Generally it will be reverse.

first we create SalesOrder and Item tracking and then Create Purchase Order using Special Order functionality.

I tried above scenario in NAV2009R2 and working fine.
