Seeing family members on Case Form

What I'm trying to accomplish gives me a brain cramp, so am reaching out to the community for help.

  1. I use the Case entity for social service cases.
  2. I use the Contact entity for the social service customer.   Creating a Case from the "Related Cases" subgrid view within the Contact creates the "Customer" relationship (magic I did not create).  That Contact ends up being the "primary" contact.
  3. Each Contact has a potential familial relationship with others.

I want to show the "family members" view on the Case form.   This is basically the Connection between the "Primary" contact (customer) and other contacts.

I'm so confused with sub-grid versus QUick View as well.

You should be able to use a quick view form.  On the contact create a quick view form that has a sub grid on it with the family members displayed.

You can then add that quick view form onto your case form.

I really did think that would work, but have tried every variation and can't get it to work.  I think I've gotten myself tied in knots.

Contact QuickView Form configurations to display on Case Form:

    1) entity: Connected To; view: Connected To (Customer)

    2) entity: Connected To; view: Connected From (Customer)

    3) entity: Connected From; view: Connected To (Customer)

    4) entity: Connected From; view: Connected From (Customer)

None of these display the connections.

Do you have the family members shown on a subgrid on your main contact form already?

If so, you should be able to copy the config from that.

I GOT IT TO WORK!!!   The problem was the View should have been "All Active."    Because the entity was "Connected From" limiting to the view to that as well was a double negative.

EEH GAD ... this wasn't easy!

The final configuration displays all family  members related to the Customer on a Case by  (what a tangled web!!!):

    • Case form displays the Contact entity's QuickView Form "Case - Relations to Customer"
    • Contact entity's QuickView Form "Case - Relations to Customer"
      • Displays sub-grid
          • Records: Only Related
          • Entity: Connections (Connected From)
          • Default View: Related to Customer on Case
            • Connections View: Related to Customer on Case
          • Displays fields: Connected To and Role (From)
          • Filtered by Status = Active
