Dynamics NAV 2009 R2 Web Service with anonymous access?

Hi,

we have a NAV 2009 R2 Web service and a 3rd party application that wants to access this webservice without Login.
The 3rd party application does not come from our Windows Network. She connect from an external host via VPN.
Is anonymous access to the web service possible? If yes, how?

Thanks,
Best regards,
Coyo

NAV 2009 has not been designed to support anonymous authentication as its security is managed by Windows Authentication. You would need to develop some additional tools (middleware solution in between) to handle user credentials to access web service in this version. Roberto has a good blogpost about that:

    Coyote ,

what is the purpose/role of that 3rd party application

if you need only data input or output you can do it by DB level

This is not possible directly, you need to have a separate interface for this. New interface will be in between NAV and the 3rd party application. 3rd party application will connect to new interface and new interface will handle the authentication with NAV.

However this will be very risky as any person can use this as backdoor to get into the ERP. This will be a major security issue.
