Phantom BOM not exploding

(1) ShareShare

Hi AX community

Hope someone can guide me into a direction.

Our BOMs are made up of a few items including a Phantom Bom line, but when we auto-report the BOM as finished the Phantom line does not issue the sub-lines it is made up of but issues the phantom line instead.

Please let me know should I provide you with more information?

Thank you, Charné

    Hello Charné,

I think there are two main settings necessary to achieve the explosion:

    1. Of course you need to set the flag on the field "Phantom" under engineer in the released product details of the phantom item.

    2. Then when you add the released products that you want to get exploded to the Phantom BOM you  need to use Line type "item" and set the flag on "calculation".

    3. For the BOM in which you include the Phantom dummy item number, you need to use Phantom as line type and either use the calculation flag or not. Here I am not 100 % sure.

    Hope this helps!

    Hi Juergen

Thank you for coming back to me, appreciate it.

The "Phantom" and "Calculation" was selected but I came across the gremlin at work, the reason the BOMs were issuing the Phantom Line instead of the sublines was because of 2 reasons.

    1.       The Default order type on both the Semi Finished Goods (Phantom Line) and the Finished Good BOM was  setup as “Purchase Order” instead of “Production”

    2.       Due to this no “Sub-BOM or formula” has been assigned to the created BOMs which dictates the explosion of lower levels.

Hope this can help someone in future.

    Charné
