Best Practices on SI Opportunities and Reordering Process

Posted on by 115

Hi ma'am/sir:

Good day! May I ask what is the best practice in terms of reordering process in Dynamics 365?

And also, in our company, we have several business units, and there are few Opportunities wherein it includes many products with different business units. What is the best practice in regards with this?

FYI. SI Opportunity consists of product line items form different brand, managed by several salespersons from different business units. The value of the opportunity should be distributed to the sales pipeline of each salespersons involved in the opportunity.

Thank you,

JeromeE

    Hi JeromeE,

I think that would be possible with a chart applied on the Opportunity Line entity.

Proposal: You could create a new Opportunity Line view including the Pipeline stage of the related Opportunity and "mimic" the out of the box chart by creating a funnel chart similar to my draft below:

Would that be something acceptable for your requirements?

    Hi sir,

For example, Product A is owned by Salesperson 1 with an amount of $5
and Product B is owned by Salesperson 2 with an amount of $10.
Now, Opportunity 001 has the products A and B, the requirement is Product A's amount ($5)
should only appear in the Sales Pipeline of Salesperson 1 while Product B's
amount ($10) should only appear in the Sales Pipeline of Salesperson 2.
Mentioning this requirement, is this possible in D365?

    Hi sir,

The conflict based on your statement is that; when there is an Opportunity having products with different business units, There is no way to update every business unit's Sales Pipeline, because only one Sales Pipeline will update in one Opportunity. How do you cater this problem?

    Thank you,

    JeromeE

Hello JeromeE, I understand there are not any security requirements based on your last statement.

Did you consider to "tag" your opportunity products/lines in regard to the different business units?

One approach could be creating a custom n-1 relations ship to the business unit entity (opportunityproduct n:1 businessunit).

By that action, you would have all the necessary information to extend your reporting. Would that fulfill your requirements?

    Hi sir,

Good day! I want to know what is the best way to accommodate opportunities having several products with different business units. What is your approach in regards with this scenario, sir?

    Thank you,

    Hi Jerome,

Rich reordering capabilities as in ERP systems do not exist like that in D365 CE. I believe you would need to approach these requirements with custom processes/customizations. I would be interested to hear examples of other community members on that.

In regard to you questions of products of a different  business unit:

It is not completely clear to me what the challenge is. May I ask you to provide more details/examples?

Do you have any security concerns here or is your ask based on the reporting approach?

    Thanks
