workflow for updating historical data

Hello All,

I am new to CRM programming. I am a seasoned C# programmer.

I am looking to change the content of a field: Product Groups. Formerly, it had Roll Covers, Roll Grinding, etc. as values. Now, I want to change them with a workflow to a new value: Roll Products. I updated the drop down of the old values to the new values. This is true for a number of product groups we have now consolidated down from 21 to 12 groups.

When you create a conditional statement and select (Opportunity, Product Group and equals) you only get the current dropdown values. If this was SQL or C#, I could do this in a couple of statements.

Could someone point me in the right direction?

    Hi,

    Not sure what issue you are facing, can share more details, Assuming you have added new values to the optionset alerady, now you create a workflow and update entity with the new value based on the conditon for example

    If current value is A then update it B

    and then can run this workflow on demand to existing records, If you have huge number of records you can simply using XrmToolBox workflow manager to rune your workflow on the large data set like this :himbap.com/.../

    Let me know if my understanding is not correct.
