Hi,
FormRef property helps us with the option "Go to Main table"/"View details", as this option helps to determine which form(rather display menu item) should be opened. Even if this is empty , AX tries to open some form by trying to match the tablename with the menuitemname. If none exists, a warning is shown stating " No object is specified on menu item".This is the behavior in AX2012 and hope same thing would be for D365FO too.
