Environment: Dynamics 365 online, version 9.1 2020 release wave 1 enabled
Is there a good reason why is there no Submit button on the command bar in the default solution, or is this just an oversight that will be addressed in an upcoming update?
While I can go into each individual time entry and change the status field from Draft to Submitted, that does not appear to be an intuitive way to handle this.
Hi,
I don't see this button in the new wave. Now the workflow is like this:
- Mark the check: "Unavailability approval required" in resource form
- The resource create a time off request
- When the supervisor approve the time off request the time entry is generated automatically.
It's possible that what you said has change because Microsoft has deployed a new functionability for generated automatically time entries.
Anyway, you can reassign the time off request to the supervisor or fix it with any other workflow that notifies that person.
I hope it helps you
The time entry for Work Orders in this initial version is for the work order billing and only the work order billing. So it doesn't actually have to be approved like it does in PSA. It will update actuals, etc based on how you setup the time entry rules in the Field Service settings. This was, from what I know, MVP for time entry for WO. Based on my conversations more functionality is to be expected in upcoming releases.
Thank you Enrique,
you are referring to the Time Off Request entity, and there is no status field and it does work as you describe.
The Time Entry is not only tracking Time Off (Vacation/Absent) but also Work Items (Work, Travel, Break...).
There currently does not appear to be a way to progress a record from the initial entry through approval.
Regards
Are you looking to have this approved for a particular reason?
I would alos, to be safe, post an idea to Microsoft. The more votes you receive, the likelihood it will most certainly be implemented. However, I believe it's already known and I had the very same discussion last week with them as many customers like to integrate the time entries to another system for payroll, etc.
We are looking to use time entries to feed into a time sheet, which once approved will drive hours worked, overtime compensation etc.
Having bookings feed into this is part of the road map, but wanted to have the option for the technician to review and adjust entries in case of synchronizations issues. We also need to track time that does not have a booking associated with it (i.e. travel from the last booking to home or office at end of day).
Once reviewed, the tech will submit the entries for approval, the supervisor/lead will approve, and HR will get a nice report at the end of the week with hours worked, vacation time used, OT to be paid ...
>> post an idea to Microsoft
seems like the next logical step, thanks
>> integrate the time entries to another system for payroll
exactly, once we have verifiable records in D365, we can create a flow to push the data to payroll.
