A colleague reported a strange problem. She had been asked to add a new user to GP. She did the usual things, added the user in GP, set a password, granted access to a company. Granted security to the user and company and added the role. She then tried to log in as the user to test. She logged out of GP as the sa user and logged in with the new user and password. She then got the following error. "This login failed. Attempt to log in again or contact your system administrator". We changed the password several times, verified that password. Created a password in notepad and pasted it into the two password fields. We also verified the corresponding login was being created in SQL.
This client environment is hosted in Azure and the users login via a RDS Portal front end before launching the Dynamics GP client. As I had to create the domain account, for the user, I then decided to test the RDS Portal. This time when they launched GP and entered the password, the connection was made and GP successfully opened. We then went back to the desktop, which is the same server that the RDS portal is on and again got the login failed.
Does anyone have any idea as to why it would work through the portal, but not through the desktop GP icon? This is more of a mystery than a real problem as the user will never be logging in via the desktop icon.
Thanks
