Import data in customer engagement - Check import status in new UCI

Hello,

Is there a way we can access the Settings > Data Management section of D365 For Sales in the new UCI? I am asking because our business would like to import data from Excel spreadsheet. Using Settings > Data Management, we can see the status of the import. However, if we import data in UCI, directly by going to the target entity and clicking on "Import Data From Excel", we are not able to see the status of the import (e.g how many records failed importing, how many partially succeeded, etc).

Does anyone know what can be done to tackle this? Is there a workaround in UCI for Excel data import? I checked the following documentation on data import through model-driven app and it seems to me like there's no way, in UCI, to check whether the import was successful other by opening each record importing and validating whether it was imported successfully or not, which is definitely not convenient for our business users.

Thank you,

I have the same question (0)

    Hi,

You can still access the Classic Data Management section:

    • Click on Gear Icon on the top right and then click on Advanced Settings.

    • Then go to Settings -> Data Management

    • Finally, Go to Imports, here you can import data and monitor import jobs (like old days).

Hello, I understand it is still accessible. However Microsoft will be removing the old UI december 1st. What will happen to the data management section in the new UI? Will we still be able to view the status of the imports?

    Hi,

You can go to the entity you want to import and click Import from Excel in the ribbon button.

    Hello Lois,

Currently we're doing it the old way. We're clicking on the top right gear icon > advanced settings > Settings drop down > Data Management > Imports to see the status.

So far it's still working, I have no clue what are the plans of Microsoft regarding the old UI for settings though...

    Hope that helps.

    Take care,

OK, thanks for your quick answer!

I guess I will not lost more time on that issue and keep on doing it the old way then,

    Take care!

    Hi Lois,

Yes, Microsoft will take the old UI away but right now the guidance is it go through the power platform admin center. If you ask the customer to navigate using this way then even the future changes to navigation from CRM UI will not impact them.

Hi there! I found a workaround that might work if you're still looking for one. Full details here: www.crmheidi.com/.../

But you can add the Data Import area to your Sitemap in a model-driven app. It just opens in a new tab in classic. But it gives your end users somewhere on their app where they can monitor import status.
