Build cross reference question

Posted on by 1,531

Hi Friends,

When you refresh PROD data to UAT/DEV, is that going to erase your cross reference data? unless you build it on Prod.

The db that you restore will replace your target database completely, including cross reference data.

You can export the cross ref data and import it back after the db refresh, as Martin suggested. Or just rebuild the cross reference data after db refresh.

If you replace DEV database with the PROD, you obviously lose what was in DEV database and you get all the data from PROD.

Cross-references from PROD aren't good enough, because DEV usually contains different code than PROD.

Note that you can export the content of xRef tables before the refresh and import it to the new database.
