Parent and child account relationships

We are currently using the OOB parent account functionality in CRM. But the business leaders think it is not getting used as it should be.

For example- they want to see hierarchy of a parent and child accounts but would also like to see the number of case volumes or tickets rolling up in the parent account.

When we create a query to show volume under X parent account it excludes the volume in parent account and gives the result for only the child accounts.

How can we address these two situations?

Thank you,

Riddhi

    Hi Riddhi,

So we can create a rollup field to show Case volume of the current Account as well as child Accounts.

Then edit the rollup logic as follow.

So it will count Case volume of both the current Account and its child Accounts.

    HI Lu,

Thanks for your reply. Can we use the same logic for tickets/complaints?

This will address the roll up part but how can we show the cascading to different children accounts?

    Appreciate your reply.

    Hi Riddhi,

Can we use the same logic for tickets/complaints?

    - If the relationship between Account and tickets/complaints is 1:N, yes, the logic is same.

How can we show the cascading to different children accounts?

    - Can you provide a screenshot to show the effect you want to achieve?

The rollup field summarizes the data of all child Accounts of the current Account by default. If you want to summarize the data of certain child Accounts, then we need to add a filter to the logic of the rollup.
