Would someone have some documentation on the Poweruser role that my customer can give their Auditors - I know that the Poweruser role allows you to do everything in GP except security but the Auditors want something more in writing that shows, just because a user is a poweruser they do not have access to SQL and the tables and it is confined to only GP
POWERUSER Role completely bypasses GP Application security and should never be used for day to day use as it cannot be audited.
GP Power Tools creates a SUPERUSER role and task that has access to everything but at least can be audited as it still uses the security system.
POWERUSER at the GP level does not elevate permissions at the SQL level.
However it is common for elevated users at the SQL level to also have POWERUSER Role, such as 'sa' or DYNSA.
The GP Security White paper has more info.
