Report for VAT checking in Japan

(3) ShareShare
ReportReport
Posted on by 51
Hi everyone,
we are currently setting up a Japanese company in FnO and they want a report with the data included in the "voucher transaction list" but now also including VAT amount and VAT rate for each transaction line (if any).
Currently, they are in AX2012 and using a combination of the "transaction list" and "Sales tax specification by ledger transaction report". This VAT checking report is needed for the consumption vat report check.

I know there are many tax reports in FnO but I haven't found any suitable.
Can anyone tell me if there is such a report or if there are any other possible ways of working with this VAT check?

Thank you so much!
Best regards
Ulrika Zetterfeldt

Good morning, afternoon, or evening :) depending on your location!

It seems like your client is looking for a tailored solution to include VAT amounts and rates in the "voucher transaction list" for their VAT checking process in Japan. I'm not sure there is an out-of-the-box report that matches their exact requirements, here are some potential approaches:
    1. Customization: You can customize the "voucher transaction list" report to include the VAT amount and VAT rate for each transaction line. This would involve working with a developer to modify the report layout and data sources.
    2. Combining Reports: Since they are currently using a combination of the "transaction list" and "Sales tax specification by ledger transaction report" in AX2012, you could explore replicating this approach in FnO. You might need to export data from both reports and merge them using tools like Excel or Power BI.
    3. Tax Reports in FnO: FnO offers various tax reports, such as the "Tax transactions report" or "Tax register report," which might provide some of the required data. These reports can be reviewed to see if they can be adapted or used in conjunction with other reports.
    4. Electronic Reporting (ER): FnO's Electronic Reporting (ER) framework allows you to create custom reports without coding. You can design a new report template that includes the required fields, such as VAT amount and rate, and map it to the data sources.
    5. Third-Party Solutions: There might be third-party solutions or ISV (Independent Software Vendor) add-ons available for FnO that cater to VAT reporting requirements in Japan. Exploring the Microsoft AppSource marketplace could be helpful.
    Hope this helps some!

    Hi,

You can try below standard reports available in D365 F&O. Please check if it suits to your requirements.

Path : General ledger > Enquiries and reports > Ledger reports
    1. Transaction list by date
    2. Ledger transaction list.

Mark the parameter GST specification to Yes.

    Regards,
    Ankit

    Dear Ankit,

thank you for also helping me in this question. I looked into those reports and I agree with you. They could hopefully work.
The two things are that the want the VAT rate specified but as we only have one rate for one sales tax code, in my opinion this shouldn't be a problem. The second thing is that the want to have a clear export of all transactions into Excel. I will ask them if this kind of Excel export would be okay for them.

    Thank you very much!

    Best regards,
    Ulrika
