Manual Activity number in WBS project

Hi,

We require the activity numbers in every project to be numbered like 1,2,3.....etc. We can accept the format like projectno-1,projectno-2mprojectno-3 etc... which will be unique in the system. Can we achieve this with manual activity number entry at the WBS structure. We have to share this job numbers with client and all factory depend on it and we can't accept the default numbers. please advice.

    Hi Shijith,

    The WBS numbering itself has this pattern. Would this be sufficient? What possible integrations or communications will be impacted when you use this?

    The activity numbering itself is related to a broader activities table used in other areas in the system as well. This needs to have an investigation about the impact when you want to use an own (manual) numbering.

    Thanks and Greetings!

    We can't see the WBS numbers in procurement, inventory and time sheet screen  while choosing the activity. Then how will use it as the main job number.

    Also other problem with WBS numbering is that, while the project is in execution we may add sub jobs cancellation of jobs. But the number of the above and bellow should not changed.

    Please advice.

    Hi Shijith,

    As you mentioned you had to communicate with the client, it could be possible that is was just an external communication and could problably used.

    But you are completely right about the postings in AX. Then you don't see the WBS number. This could be customized, but you also noticed that it is very easy to change the WBS numbers by moving or adding the activities.

    You have to investigate or find someone who can determine the impact on changing the current Activity numbering.
