How Are Companies Using AI and Copilot in Dynamics 365 Business Central in 2026?

Many organizations are adopting AI-powered automation, Microsoft Copilot, and real-time analytics in Dynamics 365 Business Central to improve financial management, inventory planning, and supply chain operations.

I’m interested in learning how businesses are leveraging these features in 2026 to enhance operational efficiency and decision-making.

For companies migrating from legacy ERP systems, what are the biggest implementation challenges, integration issues, or data migration risks they should prepare for?

Also, are there any best practices for maximizing ROI from Business Central AI capabilities?

    Hello,
businesses are mainly getting value from Business Central AI/Copilot by using it for “small but frequent” productivity wins: faster record lookup/chat, list analysis in natural language, record summaries, bank reconciliation help, AP/payables automation, inventory forecasting, cash-flow visibility, late-payment prediction, and item substitute suggestions when stock is missing. For legacy ERP migrations, the big risks are usually not the AI features themselves but the basics: dirty master data, unclear chart of accounts/design decisions, custom legacy logic that does not map cleanly to standard BC, weak integration planning for e-commerce/CRM/warehouse/banks, poor opening balance validation, and users expecting the new system to behave exactly like the old one. Best ROI approach: clean data before migration, stay close to standard BC, automate only stable processes first, secure Copilot/AI access properly, train users on real daily scenarios, measure saved time/errors before and after, and avoid building AI around bad data or broken processes. Also note that some 2026 wave features are still release-plan items, so timelines can change.
     Regards,
     Oussama Sabbouh

BC's Coilot feature is completely free; the only additional charge is for the Agent feature. Personally, I think this is a comparison between labor costs and Copilot Credits. If labor costs are very high, I think importing the Agent feature is absolutely necessary.
