Before you begin the migration from FRx to MR, some clean up needs to be done in FRx. The following items should be taken care of, after making a backup of the FRx SysData folder.
Delete any unused or test companies.
Delete any spec sets that are not assigned to a company.
Any catalogs that use @ANY for the company ID will need to be changed to an actual company.
Rows, columns or tree that are not associated with a catalog will not migrate. You will need to either remove them or create a catalog to use them with.
Remove any spaces at the beginning of building block names.
Close FRx, browse to the Sysdata folder and delete all the files that end in .g32. Then start FRx and log into each company to re-create the file.
Close FRx, browse to the SysData directory, and delete all files that do not have one of the following extensions:
Close FRx, browse to the SysData folder and delete any subfolders other than these:
Report Book Design Files
Delete any F32 file that are not used by a spec set. You can check this in FRx by going to Company | Specification Sets.
Compact the specification sets:
1. Have one user log into a company in FRx.
2. Click File | Compact FRx Database | Current Spec Set Database.
3. Click Yes and then OK when complete.
4. Repeat Steps 1 through 3 while logged into each remaining company
Before starting the migration, Management Reporter should be installed and configured. It’s a good idea to start MR, set each company as default and create a test report. If there are any errors when you do this, or any errors in the Configuration Console, you’ll need to address those before beginning the migration process.
Additional information on what will not migrate can be found in KB 2425087.
