GP2015 R2.

The user has the POWERUSER role so it should not be a permissions problem but seems to possibly be. The specific user is the "sa" user but the problem exists for all users.

Enter a cash receipt and post it.
Go to Posted Transactions and VOID the check, all works fine and the WDL entry is made in the Bank reconciliation and the Checkbook Posting Journal shows the entry being posted OK.

Enter a cash receipt and post it.
Go to Posted Transactions and NSF the check, everything, including the NSF fee, posts OK except no WDL entry is made in the Bank reconciliation and the Checkbook Posting Journal is blank for everything below the heading words Multicurrency Management.

VOID and NSF both work fine in the TWO company but not in the Live company.

Please can someone point me to the exact location where I can check permissions between the TWO company and the Live company that could be causing this problem.

Remember, this is a POWERUSER who should be able to do anything.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Additional Information. I made a new Security Role "ALLPOWER" and checked everything, assigned it to the "sa" user, got the message that POWERUSER already has permissions but accepted it.

Went back and tested again, same problem.

So I guess it's not permissions. Any Ideas?

Hi SrinivasanK,

There is no error message when the problem occurs.
If you go to add an additional security role to someone who already has the POWERUSER role you are informed that they already have the security privileges and don't need an additional role to do anything. Try it and you will see the information message.

The problem is not the allocation of security roles, the problem is when attempting to handle an NSF check then it just does not create any WDL Bank record and the Checkbook Posting Journal is blank.

Hi Selwyn,

it is definitely not a permission issue.. the 'sa' user (and by definition every user assigned to the role 'POWERUSER') bypasses the security in GP when login.. which means no  security restriction at all apply to them.

It might be useful if you could post a screenshot of your GL posting setup..

PS: Check out those 2threads.. might help.  Also check the module registration in GP, looks like if it's failing in your production company, but may work in the Demo company TWO (Fabrikam).

Hi Béat,

You are correct, it works fine in the TWO (Fabrikam) company but not in the production company.

My problem is similar to community.dynamics.com/.../107168 which is where I got the idea that it may have been permissions.

I checked the registration and Bank Rec does have a check mark in it, besides, it works fine for a VOID but just not for the NSF.

I was thinking that maybe there was a corruption or a missing field in one of the tables used but so far have had no luck in finding anything like that. (May be a problem in CM tables or RM tables?)

Any suggestions as to where to look are appreciated.

Regards,

Selwyn

Ok.

Have you tried to check the box for the Bank reconciliation module and retry to see if that works?

Do you mean I should uncheck it and then re-check it?

I can give that a try.
