We have upgraded MR to CU10 and after that it is running really slower than before in report opening ,generating and exporting and all. Following are the exception we are getting in team viewer.
Microsoft.Dynamics.Performance.Reporting.Common.ReportingObjectNoLongerExistsException: The operation could not be completed because the item no longer exists. at Microsoft.Dynamics.Performance.Reporting.Common.Service.ClientBase.Execute[TExec](Func`1 executor, Action`1 handler)
Reader returned fewer objects for processing (12) than expected (51). --- Exception Dump --- Caught Exception: [Microsoft.Dynamics.Integration.Service.Tasks.IncompleteResultException] Reader returned fewer objects for processing (12) than expected (51).
Can any one guide us in resolving these issues.
Thanks in advance.
If you look at the SQL server, what percent of memory is being used, and how much memory exists on the server?
Which Connector do you use for your MR ? the legacy or the Data Mart... ? if it's the DataMart, try to flush it an re-install it..
Thank you for your reply.
We are using Data Mart Integration. I have already done flushing DM and re integration but no luck.
I have also checked that MR server not consuming more than 30% of memory . Can any one knows about these exceptions of event viewer.
I just noticed it is some times consuming(fluctuating actually) more than 70 to 80% CPU.
I'd definitely look into opening a support ticket with Microsoft thru your partner... When you say it's consuming 70-80% of CPU on the server, have you monitored how long ? does it load the CPU on a permanent basis or only by peeks ? The default refresh rate for the DataMart is set to 1 min in the system configuration (not something you can change in the MR console... only by running a SQL script to change a refresh value)... On my MR server, every minute I see my SQL server doing a 50-55% CPU peek for about 10-15 seconds and then drop flat again until the next minute comes up.. Of course when this happens at the same time as other SQL queries then your CPU could well hit the 80-90% limit...
I use Microsoft's Process Explorer (free utility) to monitor my server's activity and on a summary panel you can clearly see that the minute-refresh for MR generates activities on the CPU, disk and I/O side all the time.
To lower the frequency of the refresh you need to run a query to grab some configuration information and then set a new value (at least it was the case before CU10). I'll check if I can find the details about this script.
Thank you Beat . I have identified two of one MR config console of another session was taking 90% of 70-80% of CPU , I just closed that console and it is dropped to 1-10% now.
Thank for your suggestions and reply.
I figured out that the CU10 has introduced some small changes in the way the DataMart is refreshed... and definitely there have an impact on the CPU charge of your server.
I changed my refresh task called 'GL Transaction to Fact' from 1 to 5 minutes and the difference is indeed significant... I still have a quick peek every minute for other tasks that are set to refresh at 1 minute by default too, but that peek last much shorter (not more then 2-3 secs). I'm going to set a 5 minutes refresh value to one other parameter (FiscalYearProvider to Fiscal Year) and restart my MR application service to check the impact on my server performance.
I'll let you know the outcome and post the SQL script that is required to do this..
Thank you for your suggestion. I will be waiting for the results.
I am new to Management Reporter and have nothing to add but I am joining to see the SQL script Beat will be adding to change the fact runner away from one minute. It takes 1 minute and 35 seconds for the fact runner to traverse our 86 companies so it is always running.
I opened a ticket on Microsoft Connect to amend the product for a setting that would be accessible to the users:
Go and vote for the feature.
I'll also post a blog entry about the issue and how to resolve this week.. so keep an eye on my page.
Hi Beat, we are also experiencing a similar problem with a Customer that has recently upgraded to GP 2013 SP2 and MR 2012 CU10. They have around 20 Databases with the main company being 70 GB which has millions of rows in the GL30000 & GL20000. I think we will try to change the refresh rate as you suggested to see if this helps.
Hi Beat, I tried the link you have highlighted for Microsoft Connect but it doesn't appear to work. I also tried to search for Data Mart refresh but no results. I appear to be logged in so any idea what I am doing wrong. I would like to vote.
I just clicked on the URL and it took me straight to the Connect page.. Are you sure you're properly registered with MS Connect ?
For those looking to change the refresh rate of MR 2012 with the DataMart connector, here is the direct link to my blog post :
Sorry, I believe I am registered correctly. I used a different browser and it asks me to login with My MS Account and when I look at the profile there doesn't appear to be any security options. I can search other suggestions so not sure why this doesn't work unless it is because I am in the UK! That's a shame because I would like to vote on this item.
Good news to everyone using MR 2012.. Microsoft replied to the Connect entry I made and toke note of the suggestion for a next coming release feature.
I hope we'll not wait until CU20 :-)...
Thank you for the detailed post - it was very helpful!
This thread is 5 years old and since MS Connect had been completely retired and put to a rest, Microsoft said that they had moved most of the Connect requests into the new "Microsoft Ideas" web site, but I wasn't able to find anywhere an entry related to this requests.
As of today this is still a problem and I recently had to setup MR 2012 with the data mart and needed to tweak the table entries the same way as described in my blog post from 2014.
Thus I made a new entry to bring this back to the front, since we never heard anything from Microsoft related to this issue. Please go ahead and vote for this suggestion to bring onto Microsoft's radar!
