I'm using NAV 2018 CU 2.
In the General Ledger Setup Page, there is a new option called Show Amounts. There are 3 options - Amounts (default), Debit/Credit only, All Amounts.
In my testing I have found that if I choose Debit/Credit or All Amounts, I cannot see any amounts on the General Journal Entry page. Even after changing this setting back to Amounts, the default setting. The only way I could re-add the Amount column to the Edit General Journal (Page 39) was to delete the user personalization.
Has anyone else run into this? I can use Amount, but I prefer Debit/Credit in a journal entry, as do many of my clients.
From my experience, When you choose one of the option of Amounts or Debit/Credit in Dynamics NAV 2018, you will not be able to re-add these columns again in General Journal lines.
But if you choose "All Amounts", you can customize the view from User personalization, therefore it will not be visible to users if you choose one of the previous options.

I did try that option - I opened the General Journal, used the Choose Columns function, and debit/credit are not available from the list. Neither was Amount.
I was finding this very unusual.
My preference has always been the debit/credit options on a journal entry, and my clients seem to prefer that as well.
I am using the North American localization - perhaps that is part of the issue.
I think this issue also unusual. May be also your localization has an issue.
