There is no search that works on this forum????
The search above searches all forums?
Oh my god!
They said they are working on it.... thats been a while ago..
.. welcome in the world of microsoft. I'm not quite sure, NickHoban could be a very intelligent autoresponser to stave off people :)
Yeah, maybe it's much easier to create a very intelligent autoresponder than to implement a decent search functionality in the forums...
Anyway, they say the target is to launch the search in October, I hope they can pull it off!
I do not think it is an automatic responder. If you start about strategic issues or asking more specific questions about the MS roadmap those posts are removed as considered as 'spam' by others. See what happens to this post.
Looks like the upgrade is here...
We are waiting so long that dont matter if the search go throught all forums...perhaps we can learn navision asking question about dynamics ax. Looks the positive way.
Still not able to search a specific forum - sorry, but this just laughable
As you can see the new search is up and running. I want to thank everyone for your patience on how long it took to get the community 2.0 out the door. We hope the feature set's will accommodate most of your feedback.
I wanted to address a couple of your questions in this thread.
Search a specific forum:
We do not have a option to only search one forum. In the Ask the Community pages we now allow for users to sort by recently asked, unanswered and answered. If run a search in Ask the Community you will only be searching forums and not the rest of the site. I would recommend that you run your search again and you will see this search has been put on steriods.
Around the auto responder: I am trying to be as transparent with the community as I can. We have a very small team and we were working day and night to get this out the door. Like I said above I feel the new features accomadate most of your feedback.
Hello everyone. I'm Luke, one of the developers on Community. I would like to offer this solution for searching individual forums. Although not pretty, it does work.
Our search server has a certain syntax you can include in your serch queries to force it to query a specific forum. This syntax is Section:ID. So for istance if you wanted to search just the AX forum, you would just include "Section:33" in your keywords to force it to only search the AX forum. So a sample query could be "section:33 batch job emails" which would tell search to find "batch job emails" and only search in Section 33 which is the AX forum.
Here is a list of the product forums and corresponding ForumIDs:
For the forums I did not list, you can find the ForumID by looking at the URL on the "Ask The Community" homepage for the section you're in - I've highlighted and example below for the SL forum:
I know it's not part of the UI, and a bit of a workaround, but hopefully adding this search key to your queies helps you find more relevant results.
Ah, that's what we want! Why didn't you do that in the first place?
I suggest to add this feature in the UI for next release :)
Thank you for that hint. I guess this workaround really improves the search!
I just cannot believe that this was not a part of the new "Community 2.0". The structure of this new forum is so strange and the only thing we really need is a possibility to refine searches and quickly evaluate the results. And that part is not working!?
