Improved Activity Tracking in Microsoft Dynamics GP!

Terry R Heley Profile Picture Terry R Heley Microsoft Employee

Hello Everyone,

We’re back with another new and exciting feature being added to the latest version of Dynamics GP. By now, we’ve all noticed the Activity Tracking feature within GP and now we’re happy to announce that it has been updated with more functionality in the latest version of Microsoft Dynamics GP mid-year 2021.

In the past, we were not able to have failed logins to Microsoft Dynamics GP log in the user activity in SQL; however, we are now able to get the Activity Tracking to log the failed attempts in a Login.txt file that will appear in the Data folder within the GP code folder. Once the user does get logged into GP, the Login.txt file is removed and then updated in the SQL table. You can then print the report from the General System Reports > Activity Tracking Detail window (Reports > System > General).

If you want to check the Activity from the SQL side, then you can use the following script as a base.

SELECT * FROM DYNAMICS..SY05000 (Activity Tracking table)

We have confirmed that this functionality works in the Web Client as well.

As always, if you have any questions or need help setting it up, please feel free to contact us via a support case or the GP Community Forums and we’ll do our best to assist where we can.

Thanks,

Jake
