Dynamics 365 Business Central: Understanding Page Labels

Khushbu Rajvi. Profile Picture Khushbu Rajvi. 20,161 Super User 2025 Season 2

In the previous blog — Dynamics 365 Business Central: Understanding Labels in AL | Business Central Junction 365 Blogs — we discussed what labels are, why they are used, and how they help manage UI text in a structured and reusable way.

In this part of the series, we will move one step further and focus specifically on Page Labels — a simple but very effective way to display visible instructions, notes, or warnings directly on a Business Central page. Unlike tooltips or instructional text, Page Labels stay on the screen at all times, making them perfect for important messages that users should not miss.

For example, a note like this:

“Note: Payment method code must be 30day or 60day to apply respective payment terms.”

This kind of instruction applies to the whole section, not just one field.
To achieve this, Business Central provides a simple element called a Page Label.

What Are Page Labels?

A Page Label is a standalone text block displayed directly on a page.
It is used when you want users to read something important before entering data.

They remain visible all the time, which makes them ideal for important information.

This will show the message directly on the page exactly like your highlighted example.

You can place Page Labels:

  • Before a group

  • After a group

  • Between fields

  • Inside a setup wizard

  • At the top or bottom of a section

Where Page Labels Are Commonly Used

You will often find Page Labels in:

  • Setup pages

  • Configuration wizards

  • Onboarding pages

  • Complex transaction pages

  • Custom extensions where instructions are needed

Microsoft uses Page Labels heavily in RapidStart configuration pages for guiding users.

Page Labels are one of the simplest but most useful UI features in Business Central. When you need to display a clear, visible instruction to prevent mistakes, Page Labels give you a clean and effective solution. They help users understand the rules of the page immediately — without needing to hover over tooltips or guess what is required.

Thanks For Reading...!!
