Microsoft Dynamics GP October 2024-Payroll Monthly Deduction & Benefit Maximum

Well, if you know anything about me, it is my LOVE for payroll!  You might think Dynamics GP Payroll already has enough maximums – Fiscal, Pay period, Calendar year, garnishment maximum rules, and combined maximums for retirement plans – but there's always room for more!

With the diverse deduction and benefit requirements for employees, Payroll Administrators have been eagerly awaiting a Payroll Monthly Maximum. And now, with the release of Dynamics GP 18.7, it's finally here! New fields have been added to the Payroll Benefit and Deduction Setup as well as the Payroll Employee Deduction and Benefit windows.

This newly added monthly maximum functionality mimics all the same maximum rules we already use today in Dynamics GP.

This enhancement is a game-changer for payroll management, making it even more efficient and tailored to meet the needs of every organization. It's innovations like these that make payroll so exciting and rewarding!

Check out this excellent blog that explains why a deduction might not show up on the calculate checks report. One of the reasons is due to maximum limits
To complete this feature there were table changes to our existing benefit and deduction tables at setup and employee level.
UPR40900    Deduction Setup        DEDMTHMX
UPR40800    Benefit Setup             BENMTHMX
UPR00600    Employee Benefit       BENMTHMX
UPR00500    Employee Deduction  DEDMTHMX

As always when we make table changes in core Dynamics GP, we run the risk of breaking an ISV solution.  If you use Integrity Data Deduction in arrears product to enhance your core payroll experience.  You will need to make sure when you upgrade to 18.7, you also upgrade Integrity Data code, so you have no issues/ error messages after the upgrade when processing payroll or updating employee records such as below example:
Unhandled script exception:  Illegal address for field 'Deduction Monthly Max' in script 'Check_Maximums' Script terminated.
