Dashboards – Classic / Interactive / Power BI
Views (674)
You use dashboards so that a customer can see everything at a a glance. By ‘everything’ I mean to say everything that he wishes to see.
If we talk about what are the options that Dynamics 365 gives us for the dashboards, we have the following kinds of dashboards:
- Normal Classic Dashboard
- Interactive Dashboard
- Power BI Dashboard
This blog posts focuses much on what I was able to and what I was not able to perform with each of the above mentioned dashboards. I would highly appreciate if some of you take out time and add a comment on my post to say if you faced the same issues or if you were able to perform that functionality.
With Normal Classic Dashboard I figured out:
- I was able to create a dashboard involving an OOTB entity
- I was able to create a dashboard involving a virtual entity
With Interactive Dashboard:
- I was able to create a dashboard involving an OOTB entity
- I was able to create a dashboard involving a virtual entity but on viewing the dashboard it showed a Query Build Error. So I assume that Interactive Dashboards do not support virtual entity. (Need your help on this if someone could try this out and tell me if you experienced the same issue ? )
With Power BI Dashboard:
- I was able to create a dashboard involving an OOTB entity.
- I was able to create a dashboard involving a Virtual entity.
- I was able to create a dashboard involving an External ODATA v4 service.
- We can only create Personal Dashboards. System Dashboards are not supported.
- Filters cannot be added on a dashboard. (Need your help on this if someone could try this out and tell me if you experienced the same issue ? )
