Project Time & Expense Timesheet Template option
Hello PTE users! I wanted to take this time to discuss best practices for utilizing PTE (Project Time & Expense Timesheets and templates.
Utilizing a template allows employees to save commonly used projects and cost categories(tasks) for quicker data entry. To create a timesheet template, simply enter all current Projects and Cost Categories(tasks) like you see below, then select “Save As Template”:
Each user is allowed one template to be saved at any given time. If your projects and/or cost categories (tasks) change, you can simply save the revisions by selecting “Save As Template” and your new changes will be saved to your template for next time.
When you are ready to utilize your timesheet template, select “New From Template” as shown below which creates a new timesheet with your template information populated:
After you select this option, the Project Template Options window will appear, giving you the ability to copy in hours or billing notes into your new timesheet.
Please Note: At this time, we do not recommend selecting ‘Include Hours’ and/or ‘Copy Existing Billing Notes’ in the Project Template Options window. This has led to billing note indexes and/or hours being duplicated. We have seen that including one or both options will damage your timesheet, and require the user to delete the timesheet and begin again, and potentially losing their template.
Once you have successfully created your timesheet from your template, you are now free to enter the hours and billing notes for each project, or any other additional changes that are needed.
PTE is a great way to allow remote users to enter time against projects that can easily be transferred into Payroll to streamline your financial process. You can set up basic or complex Workflows for approval by managers to insure Project budgets are followed. As always, we recommend you’re on the latest and greatest version of Microsoft Dynamics GP to take full advantage of the enhancements we have made in this area.
I hope this information was helpful and would also like to direct your attention to our GP Directory page that has anything and everything you need regarding Microsoft Dynamics GP. That direct link is:
That is all for now and wish you an enjoyable rest of your day from sunny North Dakota!
Till next time!

Hi Desiree, This great option. I would also like to have this option in PTE employee expense entry as well. Any documentation or article about this. It would be much appreciated. Best Regards Irfan Rasheed

That is a great question Samkh. My screenshots are from a rich client environment but actually, web client is more sparse in color and typically white. If you try logging into the same environment, but a rich install, does your window look any different? Any kind of color change is usually done within the dex.ini switches. I would send you a screenshot but I can't respond to this post with visual aids.

This is helpful. Thanks.
My Web client windows looks brighter (all background in black). Your screenshots are more of grey color. Is it because of different web client version? Ans where to track the web client version?
Sam
