Production Order - Quality Management
Hi Everyone,
Good Day!
In this blog post, I would like to cover the quality management feature for the Production order. It is usually one of the mandatory requirement of the business to generate the quality order once the production order is completed.
In AX2012, it's one of the standard features that the system will automatically generate the quality order once the production order is Report as Finished.
In order to set up the Quality management, we need to perform below prerequisite setups
- Create Item sampling
- Create the Test groups
- Create quality association
What is Item Sampling?
The sampling plans will determine the quantity that is to be tested for a quality order. A sampling plan can be for a fixed quantity or for a percentage. We assign a sampling plan to a group of tests, and the test group is assigned to a quality order.
Below is the SS for Item sampling form
Full Blocking: Select this check box if you want the full quantity of a reference line, such as a purchase-order line, to be blocked during the inspection. If this check box is not selected, only the quantity that is specified on the quality order is blocked.
Test Groups
The upper pane displays test groups and the lower pane displays the tests that are assigned to a selected test group.
We can assign several policies to a test group. Test group include the following parameters
- Sampling plan
- Acceptable quality level (AQL)
- The requirement for destructive testing
When we assign an individual test to a test group, we can define additional information. This would include the sequence, documents, and validity dates.
For a quantitative test, it would also include the acceptable measurement values. For a qualitative test, it would also include the test variable and default outcome.
Path: Inventory management > Setup > Quality control > Test groups.
Acceptable Quality Level:
This AQL applies to the results of all tests in the test group. This overall AQL represents the percentage of tests that must pass when recording test results for a quality order.
Quality Association
A quality association defines all of the following for a quality order that is generated by the system:
-
The transaction event (Event type Report as finished: Once the report as finished posted for the production order, the system will automatically generate the quality order)
-
The set of tests that must be performed on the items
-
The acceptable quality level (AQL)
-
The sampling plan
Report As Finished
Once the production order report as finished posted, system generated the Quality order for the production order.
Process the Quality Order
Enter the Result for the Quality order
Validate the quality order
Based on results, after validation, the quality order status set to "Pass"
Conclusion
- Item sampling will determine the quantity for the quality order testing
- Test group will contain the parameter that will be used for the quality order testing
- Quality association form will be used to link the reference type(Production), even type(When the qualifying order will be generated based on the selection "After Report as finished") and Test groups
- Post the report as the finished step for the production order, the system will automatically generate the quality order
- Once the quality order generated, inventory is blocked against the quality order and also the batch disposition code is "Unavailable"
- The quality team will process the quality order and if the status is Pass, all items will go to the finished good warehouse defined in the production order
- If the quality order status is "Fail" all items goes to Quarantine warehouse for the quality inspection
- In the quarantine warehouse, the quality team will decide either to rework, reuse or scrap the items
If you have feedback feel free to share.
Thanks,
Ali Danish
