Post#42: Management Reporter user.config Corrupt Error

I recently had a user complain that he was not able to open management report from the AX menu-point in GL>Reports>Management Reporter. This was strange since the user was able to access this earlier and everyone else could still access the same.

The error displayed on the screen is shown below:

Error states “Your application settings file (user.config) appears to be corrupt. Reinstall the application to repair this file.”

To solve this we need to go to the users pc and follow the below steps:

Step1 – Close MR if open

Step 2 – Navigate to the installation data in the path below (remember AppData is a hidden folder so you need to un-hide it first)

Go to C:\Users\<user name>\AppData\Local\Microsoft_Corporation\ReportDesigner.exe_StrongName_jkdwdnwoygsxgwibwdn34dfg0fh5o5hs\<version number>

Step 3 – Delete the user config xml file

Step 4 – Reopen MR and the new user config file should be autogenerated by the system

That is it, problem solved.
