When working with Production BOMs and Routings in Business Central, users often keep these records in a non-certified state while changes are still in progress. This is common during setup, testing, review, or while multiple updates are being made before final certification.
In these situations, Business Central displays a warning message such as:
“The Production BOM has not been certified. Are you sure you want to exit?”
This warning is useful because it reminds users that the Production BOM or Routing is not yet certified. It helps prevent accidental closure or incomplete processing without awareness of the record’s status.
At the same time, for users who work with non-certified BOMs and Routings regularly, this message can appear repeatedly throughout the day. In such cases, the warning may feel less like a helpful reminder and more like an extra interruption during daily work.
Why This Matters
Production BOMs and Routings are important elements in manufacturing processes. Their certification status matters because it reflects whether the setup is finalized and ready for use.Warnings related to non-certified records can help users by:
- reminding them that the structure is still incomplete
- reducing the chance of using unfinished data
- improving awareness before exiting the page
Managing the Notification
Business Central allows users to manage this notification through My Notifications. This gives each user the flexibility to decide whether they want to continue seeing the warning. To configure the setting:
Select the Settings icon
Open My Settings
Choose My Notifications
Search for Warn about non-certified production BOMs and routings
Turn the notification On or Off based on your preference
Practical Benefit
This option is especially helpful for users who frequently:- create or update Production BOMs
- maintain Routing lines during ongoing changes
- work with draft manufacturing data for extended periods
Users who prefer reminders can leave the notification enabled. Users who already know they are working with non-certified data can turn it off to avoid repeated prompts.
