Hello GP Community,
I just wanted to make a quick post on an upgrade issue that we had identified on 18.6 for Microsoft Dynamics GP. After upgrading modified templates are not properly being moved over in the syReportTemplates table of the DYNAMICS database. This causes them to get stuck in Template processing or give errors when attempting to modify, print, or email them. We have identified the cause of the issue and will address it in future releases.
How to identify if you are running into this issue:
Run the following select statement in SQL against the DYNAMICS database and see if you have any BinaryBlob records of 0x00. If you see any records like this you have ran into the issue.
select * from syReportTemplates
Here are 3 ways to fix this issue. Depending on your situation, one may be quicker than another:
Option 1: Most users have a backup of their templates on a Share Drive or on their server in a folder. You can import your templates back into Microsoft Dynamics GP from Template Maintenance and override the corrupt ones and they will now function.
Option 2: Use the backup of your DYNAMICS database from before the upgrade process to recover your modified templates from the syReportTemplates table.
NOTE: Make sure to backup your current DYNAMICS database too before proceeding.
- Restore a backup of the DYNAMICS database from pre-upgrade and name that database DYNTEST.
- Run the update script below to fix any that templates broke during the upgrade in the live DYNAMICS database.
UPDATE DYAMICS..syReportTemplates
SET BinaryBlob = T.BinaryBlob
FROM DYAMICS..syReportTemplates L
INNER JOIN DYNTEST..syReportTemplates T ON T.RELID = L.RELID
WHERE L.BinaryBlob = 0x00
Option 3: If you cannot process either of the options above you must create a new modified template to replace the corrupt one.
I hope this helps users identify and fix their issues quickly should they run into this. I want to thank any users who ran into this early on for their patience while we identified this issue internally, and thank who others have shared similar fixes that they found on their own in the community. We love the GP Community and it's collaboration!
