From bulk storage to pick locations using the replenishment feature

Warehouse management has a helpful feature called ‘Replenishment templates’. With this feature one can manage the replenishments from the bulk to pick locations. In the bulk, pallets are stored, and in pick locations, parts are stored in smaller quantities, for instance in bins.

The goods arrive in the inbound. After a check, workers bring the goods to the bulk storage.   When the pick location reaches a minimum level, the pick locations can be replenished from the bulk storage. 

​​​​​​​1. Dynamics supports this process with the replenishment function. In order to use this feature, one first needs to configure a replenishment template.

2. In the replenishment template, the replenishment location, product, and minimum and maximum quantity have to be set first. 

3. Then, the work template and work class are to be configured. A work template is needed for replenishment tasks. 

Warehouse management > Setup > Work > Work templates

4. The system also requires location directive to be set, in other words, where items should be picked, i.e., bulk storage, and where they are to be put, i.e., pick locations. 

5. In order to display the replenishment work on the scanner for the picker, a mobile device menu and menu item have to be configured as well. 

1. Finally, to execute a replenishment task, the function ‘Replenishment’ should be used for the creation of replenishment work. It is possible to run it in batch with any preferred recurrence frequency, for instance once a day.

2. After configuration of the function ‘Replenishments’, the replenishment work can be performed.
