Import/Export Data from D365 Finance and Operations in scheduled batch time automatically

Welcome to my next blog on Data Management framework, in this blog we will see how we can import and export any data entity by a scheduled batch as per our convenient time and choice.

Problem area

Many times, we need to import and export crucial data or heavy data outside the business hours to avoid latency in the system, for this, Consultant always need to wait until the business hours is over.

Solution

Microsoft D365 Finance and Operations data management framework has a very nice provision, where we don’t need to wait for the time comes and import and export, instead we can just schedule the import export activity to a particular time, form then system will auto import/export the data.

Let’s explore this feature in the ‘Configurations’ part in this blog.

Configurations

Let’s create any data import or export project as an example->> then click on “Import in batch”

Now the below window will pop-up, here we must need to enable “Batch processing” to yes.

Optionally we can add a task description, it will show in the batch description.

Now the main part is to select the “Recurrence”.

Now we shall define the start time as per our required time in future and importantly we need to make sure, the “End after” must be 1, reason is we only need to import for once.

Note- The “Recurrence pattern” time does not matter in this case, ignore  

Once done, click on ok.

The batch is now scheduled and will be in “Waiting state” and once the time comes this will start importing and finish the same.

See below, this is now executing on 11.25 AM.

We can also see the status, this is imported.
