Microsoft Dynamics GP October 2021 - SafePay: employee name from check

When generating the SafePay file (in Dynamics GP 18.4.1320 and above), the Payee Name field will pull the employees name printed on the actual payroll check rather than pulling the employees name from the employee master record fields.  This change will make the file more accurate between the actual payroll check and the information provided to the bank, ultimately helping to minimize the risk of fraudulent activity.

Employee card:  Pillar Middle Ackerman (check source)
Check prints:  PILAR M. ACKERMAN
Stored in GP as:  Ackerman, Pilar M.  (safepay source - UPR30100 - stores middle initial only)
Safepay prints: Pilar M. Ackerman  (matches check if middle initial used on check)

NOTE: If you use Safepay, the Employee's name should be printed on the Payroll check using a middle initial only (and not the full middle name printed out).  The Employee's name is stored in the UPR30100 with a middle initial only and therefore the Safepay file will reprint the Employee's name with a middle initial only.

I hope this change makes it easier for your SafePay files uploaded to the bank.  Continue to check back to the Microsoft Dynamics GP October 2021 - Feature Blog Series Schedule page to review upcoming blog posts related to our new features and other helpful resource links.
