D365 Business Central - Save Report Dataset (Raw Data) to Excel

Community Member Profile Picture Community Member Microsoft Employee

Microsoft coined interesting new feature in Dynamics 365 Business Central 18.3 that is very helpful for the developers or consultant while doing the report development.

Now in BC 18.3 Developer can export the Report Dataset (Raw Data) into Excel and check the data that have been generated through report Dataset. By this developer can inspect the data and make sure the dataset is correct.

This feature will also be useful for the end users, They can be able to export the data into excel and can use it for the other analysis purpose like Chart Preparation, Pivot Table etc.

Reports provide a view of structured business data, but often you want access to the data behind the report for analysis and fact finding. The data is the raw dataset from the report, filtered based on your selection in the request page. The data includes all calculations and aggregations in the report, but it is presented without any layouts on top. It's ready for your analysis or a user-defined presentation in Excel.

In below steps, we will discuss how we can save the Report Dataset into Excel -

Step 1: Search for any report, In this example we will save the Report Dataset for Report ID 111 (Customer - Top 10 List) -
