Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 comes out with update rollups (URs) every few months. These are applied to Dynamics CRM Online automatically, but your IT department has to install them if you’re on-premise. It’s important to keep your CRM Outlook Client synchronized with the server, whether you’re online or on-premises. This is a good process to run through if you are having issues with your CRM Outlook client.

First, you must check what version of the Outlook client you’re using. Here’s how:

  1. Open the Control Panel and click on Programs and Features.
  2. Find Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 for Microsoft Office Outlook.

find the current version of Dynamics CRM for Outlook

  3. Plug the version number into a search engine–in this case, “CRM client 5.0.9690.3448.” The results should quickly return something like this (the version of the client below is UR 13):

  4. Now you need to find out if this is the most recent version, so do another search for “CRM 2011 Update Rollup Versions.”

Oh wow! You’re on an old version, since the most recent one is Update Rollup 14!

Now you need to update. Here’s how:

  1. Open the Control Panel and click Windows Update.
  2. Click on the important updates link to check if it’s in the list.

install the current version of Dynamics CRM for Outlook

  3. Looks like Update Rollup 14 needs to be installed!

  4. Click on Install and follow any instructions. (You might not want to do this as you’re dashing out of the office with your laptop!)

There you go! Now you have the current version of Dynamics CRM for Outlook. Was this helpful? You can also check out our blog on other ideas on how to maintain the Outlook client.
