We just upgraded to 2015 Update 2 (skipped 1) from 2015.
Prior to the update, we were able to reassign the owner of contacts, opps, etc., in bulk using the Export/Import capabilities
Now, while text fields update fine, the ownerid field (renamed Salesperson) no longer updates using the import tool.
In addition, we get a message that the update run successfully. (e.g. two text fields update fine, the ownerid field does not. The new ownerid records are valid in the system.)
Anyone else experience this? Any solution?
Can you provide steps that you are using, i.e. which specific Export to Excel option you are selecting and the View definition. I haven't run into this before, but it's possible that you have something different in your steps that is preventing it from working or possibly have found something that is a bug in this particular version of CRM. Can you also provide the exact version you see when navigating to the about Microsoft Dynamics CRM Screen (it should be 7.0.2.0053 based on support.microsoft.com/.../3075889, but depending on if you've got any individual hotfixes installed, may be slightly different)
If you provide those steps, I can validate if I'm able to reproduce the issue or determine what's causing the issue for you.
The steps are very simple.
1- Run an advanced find (testing with 1 record)
2- Export Contacts -- Select "Static Worksheet (page only)"
3- Modify the ownerid (renamed Salesperson) to a valid user in the system
4- Import the record.
The record import runs successfully, but the field does not change.
We are running on 126.96.36.199
Unfortunately others have not been able to reproduce.
clarification - others on this system can reproduce. Individuals on other systems have not been able to reproduce so far. Everyone on our system has the same issue. We are on-prem.
Hello, I just wanted to let you know that I have contact Microsoft about this issue as we were having the same problem since upgrading to 2015. Microsoft has confirmed that this is a known issue with 2015. The best they can do is supply me with a work around for now.
Yes, I just heard back from Microsoft that it will be more than 60 days before they fix the bug. We are going to try and roll back to a previous version of CRM. Very disappointing.
Given that MSFT has accepted to this being a known issue. Another way to get the ownerid of existing records to be updated could be through SSIS tool. You could supply the Excel as the source of the data and you can update to CRM to set the new owner. If you do not have development resources, you could look at SSIS Toolkit from KingswaySoft that requires minimal development expertise to get this done.
