I've been told that it's not possible to access custom entities using the free Microsoft App and have been pointed towards Resco which seems to do what is required, but comes at a cost (to my client). Can anyone advise? Everything I can find demoing the microsoft app only shows the out of box entities. Is is to work with Dynamics 2015
I'm not sure where you've got this information that custom entities are not supported. You just have to check "CRM for phones" in entity customizations options.
This is the second resource stating that to make a custom entity available to D365 App for Outlook, just enable Mobile/Phones.
On my custom entity, I have selected 'Enable for phone express' and 'Enable for mobile', however the custom entity is still not available to set an email regarding to.
Are there other requirements?
You are in the wrong thread, the question was about CRM Mobile App not App for Outlook.
Regarding your problem - verify if your custom entity has Activities enabled and if Global Search od enabled for it.
Thank you so much to Pawl for explaining exactly what I was looking for - drawing distinction between App for Outlook and mobile app and laying out requirements for making an entity available to App for Outlook. I tested with OOB Order entity - already has activities enabled, so I just added to Categorized search. After Outlook successfully downloaded the server changes, now Order available in search results and New.
We found out that without "Allow quick create" marked on the entity, we could not get it to show up - this is in regards to the Dynamics 365 App for Outlook (not the Dynamics 365 Mobile App).
