Are duplicate detection rules supposed to be obeyed by workflows? If I manually add the custom entity to which the rule applies I get the "duplicate" warning, but if the custom entity instance is created as part of a workflow it (the workflow) succeeds and it creates the duplicate (even though I do not want it to). Is this by design? (CRM 2013 on-premise). Many thanks. - Seamus
Using a workflow will not trigger the duplicate detection dialog. A solution to your issue would be to write a plugin. On Pre-operation check if a record with your desired criteria already exists, then throw an invalid plugin execution exception if one is found. I hope this helps.
