We want to unlock web pages instantly once a user has confirmed their email address.
Currently when a portal user confirms their email address (via native functionality on the profile page) a workflow gives the contact the required web roles that allow them to submit an application.
However although roles are applied instantly in CRM the portal is not aware updated privilege. So access is to the application page remains denied. If, for testing purposes, we log the same user into a separate session the updated privileges are then enforced an applied to both sessions. So the user can access the application page successfully. (refreshing the cache has the same affect).
How can we force the privileges to be applied instantly so the pages are unlocked as soon as the web roles are applied. Or is there some other way of unlocking the pages in real time when once a user has confirmed their email address?
(Note this is ADX on prem)
I am grateful for any assistance.
How the workflow is triggered? On which event? Sync or async?
Cache invalidation is a tricky one.
You can disable the cache entirely, which I do not recommend.
I know that you can work with web notifications to make sure the changes are reflected within the portal.
If you use network load balancing for your portal (multiple servers), make sure to cover this as well:
thank you for your assistance and for pointing me in the right direction. I believe the information is relevant. To be honest we didn't resolve the issue. The cache invalidation plug in is firing but the cache is not being invalidated. For the time being we are taking a different approach. (IE adding the web roles at registration - not ideal but OK for now)
thanks for you assistance although its not related to this workflow being sycn or asysn. Roles are being added to the but the privileges are not being applied at the portal. So its a portal caching issue.
