On all versions of Dynamics CRM 365 9 updates (0.3 to 0.28), there is an issue when you try to export the data to excel on some views which has columns which does not exist in the entity or related entities (for example: Opportunity|Quote|Order Product Inline Edit View).
When you trace above error, it will translate to "A duplicate column heading exists"
As you can see on column set of the view there may be columns (like: suggestions or primaryunit) which does not have display name.In prior Dynamics CRM 365 versions (8.x), there were a line of code in CrmTableAdapter.GenerateColumns method (Microsoft.Crm.ObjectModel.dll), which would check columns display names; so if display name is empty it would replace it with its column name.
I checked all updates of Dynamics CRM 365 9.0, and this line of code has been removed and has not been taking care of. but amazing is this line suddenly appears back in Service Pack 1 (9.1)
I haven't see anybody else has been mentioned or encountered this issue, so I decided to post it. Hope it helps someone
In Excel exporting if you have a 2 columns with the same Display Name , so the export operation will fail.
so, try to change the display name, and try again
Can you please check whether your view contains columns with the same display names.
Sorry for delay in response. I guess you misunderstood what I explained.
I exactly mentions there is columns (like: suggestions or primaryunit) which does not have display name, means their display names are empty.
these columns/fields does not exist in the main entity of the view and related entities and are just added as extra columns in the view. therefore you cannot change their display names.
I must add these views are pre-defined views by system. they are not custom.
You can try this by exporting excel in "Opportunity Product Inline Edit View" for example. (Dynamics CRM on-premise v9.0.x)
