Physical Inventory Journal for a specific period

Posted on by
Hi all,

We have physical counted the inventory per 30.06.2024 and wants to post the changes to the calculated one.

When I calculate inventory in "Physical Inventory Journals" it comes up with the inventory right now. But I need it to show the inventory at 30.06.2024 because that's what I have to adjust to.

Can I somehow make it do this?

I hope it makes sense.

Regards

not sure if you have sku for the item. If you do, I believe BC will create counting period per sku instead of the generic item card. Another option is to consider using a 3rd party app for inventory counting. There would be some choices on the marketplace.

Phys. Inventory journals have to be calculated when You start the inventory counting. This is a step, that usually is forgotten. Because noone really prints out those generated lines and don't fill them in :(

To be able to calculate the inventory on specific earlier date, You need to do modifications to the standard process, that entries are filtered.

    Hello,

According to official MS documentation, there are a few setups that you need to do before you start the Calculate Counting Period and the Calculate Inventory actions. These steps are described in the following link.

But, I tried this process with all setups like it is mentioned in the documentation below but I had the same problem as you described.
A few months ago I wrote a thread with the same question but got no satisfying answer. I had Items with a few item ledger entries and analysis of quantities was not hard so I know exactly how quantities need to be calculated, but it will always give me the right now quantities.

It seems that functionality does not include values from the Item card Phys Invt Counting Period Code, Last Counting Period Update, Next Counting Start Date and Next Counting End Date in the date filter. Once you update the Phys Invt Counting Period Code, the Next Counting Start Date and the Next Counting End Date fields will be modified based on your Count Frequency per Year (Defined on the Phys Invt Counting Period Code) and your Work date.

If your Work date is in 2024, and your Count Freq. per Year is 1, then your Next Counting Start Date and Next Counting End Date fields will be 01.01.2024. and
    31.12.2024.

I'm familiar with the procedure but I'm not sure if the native functionality works well or maybe I didn't initially make all the necessary setups, I followed the documentation and the settings explained there, but the outcome was not good in any case.

I hope that someone will find answers to this problem,

    Greetings
