Assigned location for a product

Posted on by
Hi mates :)

We need some way that when we are entering product from a purchase order, in case the product has no location assigned, only the locations that are not dedicated to any product will be available, not all the empty ones, because there are some that, even if they are empty, if they are dedicated to another product we do not want to use them for another product.

For example, I have taken an empty location that has a dedicated product: P001 - location U001.
I have gone to a purchase order PC230000612 and to the product P002 (another product) I have given the location U001 that I have dedicated for another product and it has let me, it has registered it and now I have two products in the same location which is the problem that I need to solve.
That is, I need that if a location has a predefined product, it does not let me place a new product.

    Assigned location for a product
    Hi

Stranded system doesn’t have this validations and logically location has to be created if it’s a physically different locations

this can be achieved with Bin functionality’s

however if it’s physically separate then we can do the customisation based the scenarios

    thanks

This is not possible out of the box for locations. If you use bins, you can look into setting up default bins for items - Assign Default Bins to Items - Business Central | Microsoft Learn

Can you expand on why you need this functionality for locations though? Are these actually different physical locations that you have, or are you using locations in lieu of bins?
