Is it possible to use Metadata API to retrieve the labels?

Hi, in D365 Finance it absolutely is possible, and there is an example in my D365 Finance APIs Postman Project here:

You need to specify label Id and Language.

The format is: /metadata/Labels(Id='@SYS12345',Language='en-us')
