Hello.

We are a whoesaler of products, apx. 60% of the items we buy are ready made from different brands.

Apx. 40% of the items are our own brand, produced at different producers around the world.
For this part of our range, I world like to be able to get a barcode automatically assigned to the items.

For the other part, that is not our own brand, we must be able not to sign a barcode when we create the item in business central.

As it is now, we need to go to a different web site and create a barcode, after that is created, often with Excel since we create several at the time, we need to import the barcode into business central.

This is a very time consuming way of working, so, does anyone know if business central can assign barcodes automatically?

Best regards Fredrik

You can also use the GTIN field to store UPC barcode information.  Saves the hassle of going to the Item References table, however, you would want to be using Warehouse Insights or another scanning solution to ensure it can read through the GTIN field when the barcode is scanned.

Then you need to contact the website that created the EAN13 code to see if they provide an interface. If so, you can solve this problem through customization.

    Thanks.

Thank you for your answers. I see now that I did not explain clearly what I need :)

I don't need to see it in a report, or add it to a report, or see an image of the bar code. I just want an EAN13 code, the 13 digits, added in the Item reference table when I create a new item. Today I need to generate the code on the GS1 website, and then import the digits into the table 5777 (Item reference).

This code will then be used to identify this specifc item when we scan the code on an actuall product, like a cardboard box, or a roll of gift ribbon, in our warehouses or our store.

    Best regards Fredrik

Hi, You can first check the standard functions of BC below.
Business Central 2023 wave 2 (BC23): Print and scan barcodes (No customization)

If it cannot meet your needs, you can only consider customization.
Dynamics 365 Business Central 2021 release wave 1 (BC18): Use one-dimensional barcodes in reports (Business Central online)
Business Central 2021 wave 2 (BC19.1) new features: Using 2D barcodes Font in BC Online/SaaS (Aztec, Data Matrix, Maxi Code, PDF417, QR-Code)

But you have already generated the barcode outside the system, can you just import it into the item's picture?

    Hope this helps.
    Thanks.
